Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. Mother and calf swim closely together over the historic Cousteau wooden stakes. In the early 1970s the Cousteau team placed wooden stakes to corral a rescued manatee named Sewer Sam for observation. These posts are what is left today in 2013. Horizontal orientation with lovely blue spring water, sun rays and reflection. Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
