Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. A mother and calf swim past submerged tree roots and into the warm blue freshwater springs. Other manatee rest in the background. A few bream, Lepomis spp., are amidst the tree roots. Horizontal orientation. Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
