Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. January 27, 2012, a series of the documented adoption of a small female orphan manatee calf. Adoptive mother's older well fed female calf entertains herself in the springs while the mother is away with the little orphan. Manatee Rescue volunteer in a red kayak documents the adoptive mother's older calf with a camera. Fish, bream, Lepomis spp., are present. Horizontal orientation split image with clear water and rainbow light rays. Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
