Manatee Health Assessments, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA. November 10, 2011 am. Researchers from several federal and state agencies and other partners work together to gather data during the manatee capture and health assessments. An arch is used for weight documentation as the animal is hoisted up. Grease pencil marks denote an assigned field ID number and its sex. The manatee is only out of the water for a pre-determined safe period of time.
