Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. An adult manatee floats near a warm springhead. It is covered in red algae and lit by rainbow sun rays. It is late fall when most manatee first arrive and the type of algae growing on them can give clues as to where this individual spent the summer. Horizontal orientation with mixing freshwater that turns aqua. Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
