A Florida manatee rests in the warm spring water enhanced by direct sunshine near Big Sister Spring. It is the middle of the winter season when manatees come to the freshwater springs to stay warm. To the far left underwater markers are set to delineate manatee only resting areas. The public boardwalk that recently opened, invites land visitors to observe manatees while staying warm and dry. As of 2015 the boardwalk is operated by the City of Crystal River but is still part of the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
