Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. Two male manatee calves take a break from playing while one of their mothers swims in. She is swimming with her belly away from them on purpose. When calves begin to play intimately it may be a sign it is time for the mother to wean them. One of a series of calf intimate play or cavorting play behaviors. Horizontal orientation and blue water and reflection. Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
