Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. A male calf engages in intimate play with its own mother. This behavior is thought to be a signal to the mother it is time to wean her calf. Another manatee swims in the background. Horizontal orientation with blue water, warming sun rays, tree roots and reflections.
