Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. Four manatees rest and warm themselves by a freshwater springhead pumping out clear blue water. Mangrove snapper, Lutjanus griseus are present as is a Florida largemouth bass, Micropterus salmoides. A boardwalk or viewing platform is visible amidst the numerous trees.
