Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. A curious manatee floats, turning sideways and looks out at the viewer. The snout, nostrils and whiskers are prominent along with its deep black eye. It is a cool winter day but this manatee is staying warm in the freshwater springs. Vertical orientation with blue water and resting manatees in the background. Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
