Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. Series of mother and calf in the springs. Mother swims slowly with calf while it takes a breath as both are reflected on the calm surface. The red algae on their backs can be a clue as to where the pair spent the summer. Horizontal orientation with sun rays. Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
