Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. Several manatees hang out and socialize in Little Sister Spring. Mangrove snapper, Lutjanus griseus, and bream, Lepomis spp., also swim in the warm blue freshwater of this spring that is part of Three Sisters Springs. Bream target dead skin on the manatees and the sirenians try to ignore the irritating nips as much as possible. The minor fish nusiance doesn't keep them from basking and socializing in the warm waters of Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
