Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. A curious manatee floats and looks out at the viewer. The snout, nostrils and whiskers are prominent. It is a cool winter day but this manatee is staying warm in the freshwater springs. Another manatee rests below.
