Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. A mother and calf surface for a breath on a cold winter day. They warm themselves in the natural freshwater springs. The calf appears to have some sort of sores, possibly from cold stress or a virus. Horizontal orientation split image with blue water. Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA.
